Did a run through A6

Notes:

Make the bridge a bit higher RJing and hitting it isn't fun.

Forward the spawns to where the exit to the field is (In my opinion, it would be easy to spawn camp)

There is a spot on the bridge where you can jump and get caught on there.
cpstarka60000.jpg

Times I recorded running/explosive jumping to the middle point.

Scout: 17.4ish all 3 times

Soldier 29.5/24.7/23.0
Note: the buildings on the right kin of hinder groung through the right side

Demo: 19/18.1

Overall I think that it is fine.

My only thing I am wondering is why both of the hallways lead to the exact same place, the only difference is a ledge.

Can you clarify that please, I don't know where you're talking about.

I've reworked the bridge around 2/4, the bulk of it is now much higher, here's a screenshot of it with a faintly overlayed screenshot from before on top.

Also added some more cover around each exits, they're less visible from each other now. Also removed the pipe above the bridges :( function over form i guess.

I thought that was some crazy ice bridge for a moment, until I read about the faintly overlayed image.

Ahhhh the lights!

See that white dot near the middle? It's snowing inside! Yay! (It took me, like, four screenshots to take a picture of snow >.>)

I can just barely stay on this rock, though there are multiple places I can go. It's also surprisingly useful if you're defending that point.

Note: I really won't be posting many of these links and descriptions until you get farther along. The more detailed a map, the more I find. So I apologize for having only two to five screenshots each time I respond compared to other maps (like pl_outback) where I have twenty.

This was from a5 since we played it today (a6 wasn't on the US server, I believe). So if you fixed it, ignore it.

Fail Sew

lol, actually it's an invalid brush, probably. I'm not sure how it is though since it's a triangular prism and all the vertexes were inline vertically.. which is the very definition of a valid solid.

Please stop nitpicking so early in development LE, you're wasting you're time. :p

as I seen this map so far and the progression, it's going really nice. I showed the map to a couple of players, the flow of fighting and holding did go very smooth.

thought I boost some moral :D

Youme fail!

more like client-fail, I've run multiple tests of all versions up until _a8 (today's release) and no one has said anything about more than the snowflakes being missing.

Anyhow, new version. not much changed except the spawn times to prevent those bloody scout rushes. Everything should be in this one...

Doh! I keep forgetting to add my snowman!

He'll make it into a future version sometime!

Everything is getting interesting in my life right now what with moving out at the end of next week to start Uni.. progress may be slow for a while but hopefully it will pick up pace once I'm settled in.

GameDay feedback : played soldier/heavy/medic/scout

The layout seemed quite solid, but there wasn't some interesting action at all points, especially the middle one that was hardly fought over, but on one occasion. The last point was the most defended, but could be taken without the need of brutal tactics like spawnkill. The engies didn't seem to have a happy time tough. Most sentries could be edgied, or outranged.

There was certainly some unbalance between the testing teams so every round was nerly onesided. Back capping the 2/4 CP looked quite diffificult. It's just a guess, but the current layout may be a bit favoritizing offense. I didn't looked at the map form a competitive viewpoint, as jumps and such needed a healing assistance. From the look of thing, I'm wondering if the non jumping classes (medic in 6v6) wouldn't have a hard time following the others.
FInally, about the middle cap point, I was surprised that using your "bridge" couldn't get you a side passage to the 2/4th CP, but ended into the same tunnel you get to at the ground level. It confines a bit the "bridges" as a fight/defensive rôle, instead of main route. At the same time, many routes use jumpable ledges but I couldn't figure the reason to let them so. It just broke the flow by a tiny amound while bothering bad crounchjumping players.

Graphically, I've got the feeling the light was quite monotone, but the certainly looked cold. Perhaps a bit too much, it may lack some additional "magic" to it.

I just played the map on 2fort2furious (67.18.19.3:27015). It was a refreshing take on the control point gametype, but something weird happened. The flame particle effect for the pyro changed to some grid of squares, and it is now very difficult to use. What is worse, it stayed broken when I switched over to a different server to play beerbowl.

I don't know if someone tried to swap out our textures, but I would like my old one back. Could someone tell me what files (and where) I need to switch out to fix this? (Surely I don't have to delete my tf2 folder altogether and re-download, do I?

3suns: That happens on any map that has custom particles, or even after, so it might not be the effect of Stark.

But the thing is, just restart TF2 and you'll be all clear.
