Idle4life_v2

Just a fun idle map I made, with display cases in each spawn that have all the hats to look at, as well as a large center area for random fighting and resupply lockers.

This map isn't totally serious so keep the flaming to a minimum, just intended for a bit of a break from the usual bland idle map.

Version 2!!!

fixed many things, see changelog

Your display case style is actually very much like an idea I once had for a TF2 "museum" map in the vein of Banjoland from Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts that would have included all the characters, their weapons, things like the control point and intelligence briefcase, and dioramas of each of the original six maps (perhaps some of the later ones as well). It never took off as I moved on to maps that had objectives. :p Still could try again though ...

I don't approve of the whole idling fad (personally I see it as "progress for the sake of nothing more than progress" - why do you want to get bonuses in a game if you're not even willing to play the game to get them? It's a self-causing, circular argument ... I don't mean to start a fight here however), but your visuals are neat and proved to me that my old scrapped idea could have worked (and still could now).

Above statements are based on the screenshots as, like I said, I don't do that idling thang. :p

thanks for the feedback..

yeah, I liked the display case, and I would love to see you or someone make a museum, it would be cool..message me if you want to do a collaboration or something on it.

as for idling, I do it because I just want one hat :\ I'll probably stop and play with whatever class I get the hat for until I get another one, but yeah. I just wanted to make a cool idle map that wasnt the same boring stuff.

Put one custom hat model in there, just to mess with people and cause all sorts of "OMG NEW HAT" stuff on the Steam forums :p

For a "museum" look, you could break them up into several display cabinets and use move_rope with a reddish texture to make those museum-style barriers.

Needs some statues of the soldier giving the L taunt and other cool poses.

Reminds me of Bullseye.

You've received a Kritskrieg.

The Toque D'Flambage for the Pyro (done by Daimao) and the kabuto (samurai helmet) for the soldier (done by AyesDyef) are visually impressive. They should stir up some 'speculation'.

Put in a fake hat that has an obvious gameplay-changing feature, like literally writing: "Invisibility Helm" on it in small text.
