Well. As I'm sure you're aware, we've run into a little [ame="http://forums.tf2maps.net/showpost.php?p=103842&postcount=101"]problem[/ame]. You know what that means?

48-Hour SHOWDOWN between LordNed and Eerieone's contest entries!

DO NOT VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE PERSON, VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE SWAMP ENTRY. YES, THAT MEANS PLAY IT.

YAYDOWNLOADLINK!

- Votes are public.
- 48 hours to vote!
- LordNed or Eerieone aren't allowed to vote!
- Please don't vote on screenshots alone. Have a look through the areas!

(Also, thank you to everyone who made an entry, even if you didn't win, I'm sure you've felt like you've improved!)

i've ran through both of the maps before. And i generally liked ned's entry more. Probably because of the detail inside the treehouse. Sorry eerie. Your entry is awesome too.

No offence to either of them, but neither were in my top 5 :/ and i can't help but imagine eerie got a lot of votes just because of cashworks. But, oh well.

Going to check out maps again.

Voted for Eerieone, because it had nice details everywhere (only the fires were not so beautiful as they could), while LordNeds had only the buildings detailed, and i didnt even figure out how to get inside the tree house (or if you even could get in).

Agreed whilst both were good I found others that had a higher standard than both. Especially as Matt didn't even compile vertex lighting for his props :(

True, but, if the legitimacy of his votes from the previous poll are in question, surely wouldn't it be fairer to check if the IP's of the accounts which were newly created match up with the IP's of lord ned? because I don't think it is fair that if he did forge new accounts to bump his vote count up, he should still be in with a chance of winning, when other contestants who followed the rules and not forging new accounts to raise votes get next to no chance at all.

I'm sorry if his votes are legitimate, but if there not, I don't think that he should still be allowed in this final vote off.

I already performed an IP check before I brought down the gavel last night. I'm very thorough in what I do. Nothing escapes the eye of the snark <.<

Maybe for the next contest, we could have a jury that gives points for each map and so on? Because it is really hard for the average forum user, to check about 50 maps, and find the best of them. I guess a jury could solve that, and everyone would also get good feedback on his submission.

Yeah, there needs to be something different next time. I just saw the giant list of maps, and there was absolutely no way I was going to load each up in-game and test them (I didn't vote in the main poll).

I'm sure the vast majority of people either voted on a screenshot they happened to like, or just on someone's name. And can you blame them?

That was my feeling is that if it was a straight 1 on 1 competition with Eerie, if things were exactly the same, the vote would go to him because of Cashworks.

Oh well.

Come up with a process that would have allowed people into the treehouse? It's a detail contest, not a gameplay contest. And the inside is detailed. ;-;

Especially as Matt didn't even compile vertex lighting for his props :(

I did. I sat there and asked you about why my tree was being funky and you said the vertex lighting. So I did and it improved a bit but still funky. :/

What makes you think I would be pathetic enough to sit here and register a million accounts and come up with unique emails for them all? Do you really think I'm that stupid? And EVEN if you did throw out all the votes from the 8th/9th, as you can see by Booj's post, I still had 25 votes.

And if I wasn't in the final vote off, it wouldn't BE A FINAL VOTEOFF. You couldn't exactly give a final voteoff if it was 23-13 vote...

Yeah...I also didn't vote because of that

I think the earlier detail contests were a bit more effective, where each person would submit 2-3 screenshots displaying their best detail work and the results were judged solely on that.

If the in-game parts are required then the voting process could always be setup as a bracket where say every day there would be random 4 maps to choose from. As four maps is a very reasonable number and it allows people to miss a few maps and still add their input. Problem I see with this is that it would take up a massive amount of forum space if all the polls were setup as they currently are...

Yeah. In my opinion, detail contests that end up being this large should be based off of screenshots. Each user takes as many from one to five screenshots of their entry, and you vote on that. It's a detail contest, so why would we need to jump into the map and see the terrible stacked skybox on the edges of the map? Couldn't we just look at a screenshot, say "Hey, that treehouse is very nicely detailed, even the inside! But Eerie's whole scene is very good," and vote for the one we think looks better?

If this detail contest had five entries, yeah we should have to go into the maps and see, as it wouldn't be so time consuming.

Note: All of that up there was implying you TF2Maps.Net Staff want to keep these things community based for finding a winner.
