I'm pretty sure I'm going to attempt to visit them tomorrow...

Hopefully I at least get to the elevator... who knows what will happen after that. I want to represent TF2M in a good way... This is by far the best community I've ever been a part of I'd like to show that. Maybe I'll get to the front office.... maybe I'll get further...

Who knows... maybe if I'm lucky I can get Robin to fire me.

I think I'm going to wear a pipe-cleaner halo when I go there, but beyond that I don't really have a plan. I'd like to meet someone from the team fortress team, and ask them about their background (how they got to where they are now, etc.).

Anyways, if anyone has suggestions about what I should do/wear/say, then you got before about noon tomorrow (PST, -8 GMT) to say something ;).

Best of luck to you. Just be sure to act curious and interested in everything they do. Kindness is probably your best bet to success in this situation. Just remember though: they're people, just like you. I'm sure if you come in with a good attitude and a understanding nature I'm sure they'll do just the same to you. :)

Ask them about:
Mappers backgrounds.
What the workflow is like for their modelers/artists that do the Art passes
If it would be better for a person to create a lot of great maps on their own, or if they have a better chance in the game industry for creating several maps in teams, showing they can work in teams/use teamwork.
Ask if they have any suggestions to inspiring mod teams about getting their mod popular, or getting people to play it. (Besides release often, test often, etc) Release soon too don't do a BMS.

TAKE PICTURES!

Thinks I'd avoid:
Asking about hats, future of trading system, etc.
Asking about gabe/his chair/anything.

You do have an appointment, right? Do that first.

I'd join you, but I'd be at work a grueling 10 miles away. :p

Most of their level designers actually started off as simple graphic designers. They also have personal websites (of varying quality) that you can pretty much just google.

Be interested, but no one likes a sycophant. Although saying that, this is Valve.

Ask if they have any new game modes planned.

Ask if they will continue updating TF2 after the final class update.

Ask if pipeline will ever get it's custom explosion.

"Well, this was a disappointment!"

Got to the front office, but few people were around. They had something going on... My spontaneity didn't pay off this time.

Next time, I think I might try and represent TF2M (press badge and all :p)... and see if i can schedule a visit/interview; Maybe compile a list of questions from the community.

Yes Psy.
On SteamForums he's Spectate4Hats.
Maybe we should have official visitors...
Maybe someone could make a thread about questions to pose at Valve during an official interview. NO HATS QUESTIONS YO. xD

Walk in with a shirt printed with "I took the moral high road. Did you?".

Wouldn't parading over with a shirt with that kind of intent be a step off the moral high road?

Ask them when cp_moralhighground will be fully tested and released will you? I heard it is the map of maps. :O
