Hi all,

First off i apologise if this thread comes across as needy. Basically im a 3D artist looking into getting into TF2 mapping. Only problem is im primarily a character modeler and have only the most basic knowledge of hammer (although i do have a fair amount of level design experience).

So yea to cut a long story short im looking for someone (or some people) to help me pick up the complexities of hammer fairly fast as tutorials kinda annoy me. Maybe we could work together on some maps or something. Please bear in mind that i am a pretty advanced user of max/photoshop so for hammer teachings i can supply some pretty bitchin' props etc and hopefully we could make something awesome :D

Eh, I've seen needier. Even just today.

My suggestion from taking the opposite route (Hammer->Blender) is to think of Hammer as a fairly restrictive modeling tool where most of your work is composing from block volumes (AKA brushes) which must be convex. In the near term, imagine you're doing carpentry rather than sculpting. The information in the map is interpreted by the game engine logic, which is what allows things like the simple inclusion of a point entity object to cause large effects in the final product.

Heh, I'd love to help you but it's probably not a very good idea as I'm not very good in Hammer yet either. Good luck finding someone though.
