I've been wanting to get my map testing on the tf2maps.net testing sessions for sometime now. However I've yet make the deadline. I live in the mountain time zone and must be at work at the exact same time as the thread opens. Generally I am quite busy once I get there and I simply don't have an opportunity to post my submission before it closes. I imagine that it will just get worse and more competitive the closer the contest deadline nears.

Furthermore I have to wonder what one must do in order to have be involved in one of those spontaneous playtest sessions I see pop up all the time.

So how about changing the times up a little bit? To make it more convenient for those who work or have school in the mornings?

There's some talk about changing the times for the US server stuff in [ame=http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=9286]this thread[/ame].

That thread has nothing to do with when submissions open. When they open is really just that I do them when I get up. I do realize it's not good for everyone, but I will accept early submissions via PM if a person's situation truely never allows them a chance.

and to get your map into the spontaneous playtests the easiest way it to start them yourself, just ask a mod to make an event for you, or if you join one that is already in progress you can ask if your map can go next/ after the planned ones

About the spontaneous playtests... I honestly don't know if my level is on the dedicated server. Unless the server redirects the download to where-ever I uploaded it or all of the maps on the site get uploaded to it automatically at some point, I don't think it is on there.

As far as I am aware, official playtest sessions are the surest way to get a level on the server. I suppose one could jump in the steam chat room and ask somebody with access to upload it. But who has access? and would they be willing to drop whatever they are doing to upload a map every time they are asked?

Perhaps the site could develop a formal solution to upload a map to the server. Something where a user is limited to 1 upload a week and are handled in a "take a number" fashion. Once it gets uploaded you be alerted that it is on the server.

the "upload for everyone" thing is not going to happen...as it was exploited a while back...

EDIT: oh wait, you were just referring to getting someone to upload your map? heh, just make a topic or even ask in your maps discussion thread for someone to upload it to one of the servers

and plr_powerplay_a5b should now be uploaded on the US and EU server...i assume thats the map you were referring to
