Is there a way to automatically switch every applied texture to another one?

Hopefully my post makes sense. Basically I found a better texture for my ground that I'd rather use, but I've already textured and alpha'd everything. Is there a way to have hammer swap textures for every instance of the old one?

Yup, just open the materials and choose replace. But you'll probably find that you might want to do the alphas over again in some areas. Sometimes they don't look the way they did on the previous blend.

One way would be to manually select each face and then hit "Invert Alpha" under the displacements tab of the editor. To make selecting the faces easier, I suggest turning off the Auto vis group (right hand side, Auto tab) and then just rec-checking the displacement box.

As far as a few button presses to do it automatically, like with replacing, I do not know.

Here's how you can select ALL FACES of a single texture:

- open :faceedittool:
- select "browse"
- hit "mark"
- all the faces of the selected material will be marked now
(if you want to only select textures on displacements, for example, use visgroups as TheDarkerSideofYourShadow suggested)

There's a slightly different way to select ALL BRUSHES:

- DON'T open :faceedittool: this time, just hit "browse" on the regular materials browser
- hit "mark"
- all the brushes that use the selected material will be marked now
