This is my map, which has yet to be compiled and run.

I started pl_nitroglycerin as an Arena map, but it spawned into a payload map because nitroglycerin is an explosive, and payloads always end in.. EXPLODING BASES! :p

A little information about the map:

RED management own a farm with it's back to a mine. Little do they know, the mine is actually full of gold and is owned by BLU. BLU have built a base by the goldmine and are planning on destroying RED's base. BLU want to destroy RED's base because ever since BLU built their base, RED have been nosy and asking why BLU are building so close and have been stealing the gold.

The map is set in a farm/mine location, with a river and some hills.

I started the map on August 31 2009, and I am planning on finishing it by the end of October. :)

Hopefully I will add some pictures of the map in early September, but until then.. post what you think about the story line ;)

Mashpotatoe, as stated in the first post:

'This is my map, which has yet to be compiled and run.', so no screenshots just yet :)

Still anything, even in hammer screenshots would be nice, hard to give feedback on a map with nothing to observe :p

OK, if Hammer screenshots are alright then I'll put some up in a few seconds :)

It looks extremely bare at the moment, but I've only been working on it for about half an hour .. :)

It's a little bit too sparse to say anything about it at this point.

RED management own a farm with it's back to a mine. Little do they know, the mine is actually full of gold and is owned by BLU
[...]RED have been stealing the gold.
Erm, how do you steal gold you don't know exists?

Ah, I forgot to add that RED got nosy and asked why BLU are building next to them. Sorry Terr :)

I have to ask why you uploaded this so early. Trust me, the later you upload a map, the more interest it'll create. As it is now, we see an image of a large green square near a sunken set of walls, and have a description of "it'll have a mine and a farm and some sewers."

I would really suggest that you don't upload anything on your map before it's playable. It just means that when you DO have anything interesting to show, you'll be posting in a thread that's been pushed to the bottom of the page.

Edit: Oh, my bad. You also added a few generic props. :V

Another edit: Wait, let me get this straight. BLU is trying to destroy a farm? How do you even do that? Seems like the best method would be to salt the earth, not blow up a building.

It does seem a little uhm bare, I'l just say what everyone's thinking, I think you need to make this into an actual map than an area with some trucks.. Once you've done that, I'l check this out with %110 Enthusiasm..

Oh, thanks for the replies, so is there anyway I could get this locked/deleted?

Keep the thread and just update it as your map progresses. Looks very bare so far, it would've been better to post the map later, maybe in alpha stage.

It's simply a pre-pre-alpha :p

IMO the storyline doesn't really need to exist, the map just needs to capture the feel TF2 has established. Two shadowy companies, needing no reason at all to be near each other. One is on the other's home turf, pushing a bomb to destroy something important.

I'd suggest this:
  • RED team found gold, and built a sprawling combination secret-base and mining-facility.
  • BLU team wants it for themselves.
  • BLU trucks in some men and a bomb, take over a nearby abandoned farmhouse.
  • BLU makes their own tunnel, and one day blows up the last obstacle, breaking into RED's existing mineshafts.
  • BLU guides the bomb to RED's really-important-mechanical-thingy to blow it up, which may either be something crucial to the gold-mining, or else some sort of special control center. (Or, in this case, a ludicrously-unsafe explosives storehouse.)

Since payload maps usually have BLU attacking, it makes more sense for RED to be the ones who own the goldmine and who are already established. (You COULD do it the other way around--some folks have made art for it--but it might confuse players.)
