    right ive been playing around with hammer for a while and with the 72hour contest i decided to make a simple map which i wouldn't have to spend ages on and upload it... ive got the VMF and of my map, i would like to know how i can get it on here, preferably in the next hour as the contest closes...

    you need detail to some extent so that people can tell the differance between door, floor and walls, or the red team side of the map and the blue team... but i dont plan to use much more that this... im rubbish at detailing anyway though

    hmmm, for some reason they wer'nt in there... is that normal for them to appear in hammer but not actually be in the folder??? then again there are other textures which appear fine in my map which dont show up in the folder... is there a right and wrong way to place cubemaps? could i have done...

    i've put some cube maps in already, and its not checkered, its like where the cracks in the bricks would be and for the glass its tinted it purple. I dont know if i did the cubemaps right, i put them in each room and it stopped my CPs from appearing checkered but hasn't done anything to these...

    There is probably some really simple solution to all this but I'm a noob to all this... In my map I have 2 roof textures and a window texture: -tile/tileroof004a -tile/tileroof002a -glass/glasswindow001a The tile roof appears black with bits inbetween the bricks where the cement would go...

    thanks for all the responces, the textures I was using were called something like 'dev/dev measure gen' and came in red, blue, grey and orange. I have quite a few ideas for maps, and can make them look ok in hammer, but i havn't tried displacements or using textures much yet.
