        .7z is a 7-zip compressed file. Download the 7-zip program and use that to unpack it.

        Tools > Options > General > Autosave is where the options are. If the "enable autosave" box is not checked there is nothing you can do. If it is, go to the directory and you will find your autosaves.

      That used to happen to me all the time, I think all you can do is recover from an autosave or decompile the last bsp you made

        That's normally because you have an error in your map. Run the compile log through interloper's and see what it says

      hmmmmm hammer will not open the map it says out of memory loading solid ???

        Your map was saved with an invalid solid at some point, and it corrupted the vmf. You'll have to open it in a text editor like Notepad, go to the line written in the error, and delete the entire solid class there (you'll know it's the right one when you see 1.#QNAN in the coordinates for each brush side). If you're not sure how to do this, feel free to PM me the vmf and I'll look at it.

      hmmmm and making a seprate version of the map with a slighty diffrent name does not work the complile checker i do not get hmmm what to do

        Renaming the map won't do anything; the compiler still can't make a bsp until the problem in the vmf is fixed. If the compile log checker gave you errors, there should be instructions for fixing them under each one

        That means you have an error that's causing the compiler to not produce a new bsp, so when it loads your map, it's taking the last version you compiled with that name instead. Put your compile log through here http://www.interlopers.net/errors/
