I started making a sequel to the original mariokart map with permission from Xenon.
I got 80 (and counting) custom textures and I'll hopefully be done sometime next month.

The first version will be either featuring KotH or CP's gamemode, whilst the second one will be less restricted and will be a sandbox map like the original map.

I know that some of you aren't big fans of the first original map, so please stick to constructive criticism. If you don't like what I'm doing, don't reply. :)

Looks good, a fine sequel to the ridiculous original. I was a fan of the original for a while, its fun for messing around on - but it had no goal or purpose. This one does, well done! :D

Looks better from the origanel i played it for a while can you try to make it so that theres no use key and use triggers for the cars and stuff also keep it funny :p

I think it's cool that you chose to remove all the 4chan memes. Finally this maps sort of resembles Mario Kart... more or less.

It still seems to have the terrible problem of being HUGE, though.

Meaning this map is a failure (not that it wasn't already)

Please, please, please! Stick with FPSBanana for these types of maps.

Never liked Mariokart never will.... Sorry, its just something about the design n stuff :(

This remake suffers from the same problems of the original.

Its still WAY to open and lacks cover.
VERY unbalanced.


In general actual gameplay suffers on this like it does on OrangeX, I believe both these maps are only popular because they were close to the first ones out for TF2 and it shows. Both extremely wide open, no balance in consideration, no aspect of gameplay and the only reason people played them then was its pretty much "something-other-then-stock-maps".. Sadly that caught on for these type of maps.

If you've 80+ custom textures do yourself a favor and remake a "mariokart" map. Using this as your shell will only limit your mapping ability as the map is terrible.

Thanks. I'm still toying with the gameplay mechanics, although I haven't decided whether to keep it CP or KotH.

There will be features that will allow the players to use the entire map to their advantage, including re-location of spawn positions and cannons/ramps to gain access to flank entrances on the roof. There will also be pipes that lead to different areas of the map.

I'm not sure how the gameplay will work out yet, as most of the features aren't fully completed. But if you'd like to help out with either giving me feedback along the way, or playtesting, please let me know.

On another note, this map isn't a direct remake, although it's similar.

i'm actually impressed with the textures.

it's still not tf2, but its more "tf2-like" and they seem cleaner. (esp. without the copy-pasted meme images)

People need to give the original Mario Kart map an honest chance, and not just play it for 5 minutes. It's fun as hell.

I spent alot of time on the textures, even though it might not look like it.
Coming up with some viable content for the fake 'mario ads' wasn't really that easy.

Also, I tried to make it so that it's based in the mushroom kingdom, but with some influence from TF2. You'll be able to find some farms and RED/BLU structures in the 3D skybox.
