Transparent Block Surface

I was hoping someone could help me. I am trying to figure out why one of the block surfaces are transparent.

To provide back story: I made a tunnel by carving into a rectangle block with a cylinder block. Then, I used the Clipping tool at one end to create a 45 degree angle. I then duplicated that tunnel, flipped it around, and lined up the two tunnels to form an L shape.

The outside area of the block does not seem to be transparent, and the issue is only occurring in one of the two tunnels, even though they are duplicated. I've moved around the light sources, but I get the same issue.

Is this just a lighting environment issue or something else?

Thanks!

Press and hold alt and then press p to open error dialog. I think you may have invalid brush. If there is one, pressing "fix" propably wont fix it. You have to redo it correctly.

Could be something else too but the brushwork there looks like something that could cause this to happen.

There's your first issue.

Don't use the carve tool, it's very good at making weird, offgrid geometry which can lead to issues such as floating point errors and microleaks. If you want a rounded tunnel, you're better off using the arch tool and setting the number of sides to a power of 2.

Thanks for the helpful responses, ics and Da Spud Lord! That method is actually a lot simpler than how I was doing it—I'll try that out instead!
