Controling LOD on pre-exsisting model

I put this model models/props_powerhouse/emergency_launch_button_cables.mdl in one of my maps only to find the lower lod omits half of the cable (probably because the cable is partially concealed where it is used in powerhouse). Is there a way to force the model not to lod at range? Unless I'm blind (quite possible) I only see fade and DX options for prop_static and prop_dynamics could any of those force it to render the high poly one or is there another entity that will? I don't want to have to make a custom model for this but I will if I must. Thanks!

You do know that the lod is swapped out when the prop is "ya big" on the screen, right? The swapping isn't supposed to be noticeable when it's that tiny.

"Supposed to" is the operative word Valve did the lazy on this model. Step 10 feet away and the pop in from half the cable totally disappearing is very apparent. Like I said originally the powerhouse map hid this half of the cable so it didn't matter. That's not an option in my case where I'm using the cable because it was the only one that fit.

You'd have to decompile the model and directly modify the LODs or the LOD ranges.
Ah well I guess I'll be modeling cables if I want them (might as well since decompiling would mean I'd have to pack the model anyway... or maybe I can shove a brush in there and no one would notice the swap hmm... ).

Thanks for the answer it keeps me from hunting across the inter-webs for something I could have modeled in the same time :) .
