Talltower - tower with an elevator

This map is for anyone to do what they want with.

I apologize for no screenshot due to forgetting to take one and put it on the storage device I use for map development.

Included in the zip is the map and the hammer VMF for it.

Why upload the map without taking a screenshot then?
You could just keep the submition tab open and hop in game yo.

I don't have internet access at home.. I use an internet café..

You could also get the map source from my dropbox and compile it yourself you know...

You can boot up a map offline by opening the console and typing "map [your map name].

uh

I don't think it's fair to assume people will be bothered to compile a map you released, for you, for them to see what it looks like?
And more importantly, didn't you include the .BSP file?

My point is that it's fair for someone to want screenshots, because they're not gonna download and boot up a map just to see what it looks like.

Screenshots certainly aren't essential, but screenshots are the #1 way of getting people interested in your map. Otherwise, people just see an empty thumbnail with a name and move on because they decide it's not worth their time.

First I highly suggest posting maps like this within the Orphaned Maps Repository if you're going to put this up for an adoption or a building, as well as that, allow me to bring some issues with the map you uploaded as I have taken a look at this map in full.

  • Portal Textures
  • Misalliened brushes
  • Team Fortress 2 does not use ladders unless they are used either as ramps or decor, the ones you had implemented are Half life ladders and would not fit TF2's Artstyle
  • The elevator you have in the map is interesting, however elevators are generally not used in TF2 unless you are using the lifts from Hightower, as they lead to players clipping through the ceiling/floor.
  • A good example would be this would be this scene from this old Ster_ video, Now granted it is a tower of terror, and yes they did jump before it went down, but it still shows the point I'm making with this.
  • There is an error within your map above the elevator, meaning you had used a custom model and neglected to add it into the pack of resources.

I really don't see this map getting much use, however who knows who will give it a new home!

I mean, you guys don't have to give feedback on any of Cynder's maps. They obviously aren't going to change how they make maps or present them to the community, so there's no need to try.

But Cynder, there is no need for that antagonistic crap, either. This thread is getting locked because it does not belong here. If you'd like to share a vmf for anyone to use, I suggest putting it in the Orphaned Maps Repository.

And as an aside, if you aren't planning on sticking to standard gameplay in your maps, I also suggest you put your maps in the Non-Standard Maps sub forum.
