Mapping and Me

If anyone has been following my maps you know that maps start out cruddy and improve as updates roll out. Every map that I have created start out as a super basic map so I can change the map easer for me. It is how I like to do things. That is why at the first release of shutdown it was a step back from whitejack. I start from scratch everytime. I push updates to the map with everything that I learned from the older maps. This it easier for me so I have the map out there and so I know that it's out there. I like to push out updates alot due to me not wanting to be vavle and back log 6 update worth of updates and then push it out all at once. I think that is bad due to the long wait time. I wanted to tell you this so people won't keep saying this is worse then the older map and I did not learn anything. I do learn things but sometimes at a slower pace then normal people.

I understand that pushing updates out frequently eliminates long wait times, but updates 1 hour apart from eachother with only 3 minor changes can easily be combined into daily/weekly segments.

We all have our own style to mapping, it's what makes our creations unique. But you shouldn't do what's easier for you just because it's simpler, push yourself to do better so that you improve.

I dont want to become a neris rec if I push myself too hard. I dont want to stop making maps if it gets be all stress out. so that is why I do things ease. Well updating the map within an hour of each wont really happen all that much unless there are major breaking things.

If you go the easy route, then you won't work hard. If you don't work hard and try your best, then you won't learn. If you don't learn, you will never improve.

These six updates were all pushed on the same day hours apart from eachother. It should take you at most three sub-updates to resolve a major bug. All these updates offered were minute changes

There was a bug that told be that i had one version up then what i had. So i had to skip from 6 to 8. Because i dont remember pushing out six updates. Maybe i am just losing my mind.

You should spend time and effort into making a layout, not necessarily complex, but not simple or basic either. IMO it ain't easy to develop a barebone layout.

I meant putting time and effort into the layout before releasing it.

Anyways, you shouldn't worry on putting up new updates constantly, instead focus on the quality of those updates. As in the content of the updates is more valuable than the quantity of the updates.

All of the updates are important due to them fixing a major bug.

Considering the time gap, coulda thrown those updates into one instead of multiple during a few hours. Saves some memory too.

What happened was that I pushed one update out I saw that there was a bug then I updated again and then aother bug came up.

Spend more time looking for bugs, and actually upload the ones you know wouldn't have bugs in them.

I'll just say this again; I feel you're rushing way too hard on your map development, you need to slow down and take time. Don't be afraid to put more detail and care into the way you develop your maps. Most people take at least a few days, weeks, months, even YEARS sometimes between different versions.

Okay, I just wanted to show that I am working on my map and not abandon the map. So I push out a update everyday to show that I am working and careing about the map.

Never feel rushed to make an update, it takes time to find all of the issues a version has. Instead of making one fix and uploading a completely new version just give the map some time to soak, time for you to really formulate and work with new ideas while continuing to find and fix bugs as you go. And people arent going to think you abandoned a map just because you arent updating everyday. Like Auwi said,

Youre free to take a really long time if need be, i know I have before

I be honest. I don't like to wait a year for anything to update. I like my updates to come out in short times then long ones. I don't want to be vavle we're they bottle up updates worth of contact and then shoot it out all at once.

Well of course lol, you dont have to wait a year, but people in the thread are right that youre going a little too fast right now

Try to find a happy median

You shouldn't focus on what other people think of you, its honestly an unhealthy obsession, leads to overthinking, and such things.

We're here trying to help new mappers. I honestly think you have potential but you need to give yourself some time and motivation to go through the process like most of us here. Mapping is a skill that takes time and understanding, give yourself some time to breathe.

That is the problem. I is hard for me to do that. Just look at my maps. It's either too high or low, to close space or open.

If I don't Focus on people then I would not have the map become better. I don't want to block out people. I need to focus on people so the map will become better.
