2Koth - This is a koth version of 2way. This map has two cp for a koth map. I hope you enjoy it.

I see you've submitted several versions of this map to the testing queue. I want to encourage you not to do that, for several reasons:
  • Consider the players. They will likely get tired of playing virtually the same map over and over, and may lose track of which one they're playing, leading to confusion. This could negatively affect the feedback you get.
  • Some feedback will apply to all versions of your map. Do you plan to make the same change three times after every playtest?
  • You're overlooking the fact that different gamemodes require different layouts. If you try to make a single layout that works for all of them, you'll just end up with a map that's uninteresting and forgettable at best.
I think it would be best for you to focus on a single gamemode for now. Work on designing the map for the mode instead of forcing the mode into the map. This will give you a better understanding of layout design and make the map more fun to play overall.

• I believe that players will not lose track of which map is which due to the nameing of the map themselves. For example for the koth map it is named 2koth and for 5cp it is named 25way so each name of the map corasponds with each gamemode.
• I will be only updating one map after each playtest for example the 3cp version of 2way. I will keep updating that map for a while then I will update the rest of the map at a point. So I am not going to be updating all the maps each time only one map then the rest of the maps later.
• I have changed the maps to fit the gamemode. For example for 5cp and ctf all of the map is open. For koth and arena map only the mid is open. This will help to fit the gamemode fit the map.

Putting that many maps in the queue is just an abuse of the bot and the privilege of testing. They could all be completely different and it would still be an issue. I have removed all of them, and I suggest you prioritize a few versions and focus on them rather than flood the bot with your projects.

Before deletion, you had SIX maps in the queue, that's not fair to everyone else looking for testing.

I am just making sure that people get the right gamemodes that they want. Some people don't like ctf or 5cp. So I have to accommodate for everyone.

I don't like having a debate on someone's map thread, but
  • Don't rely on the name alone to identify a map - the appearance is much more likely to stick in people's minds first. They may not even catch the name of a new map unless they see the loading screen or check the scoreboard. Not to mention, your map's names are all the same 2-something format anyway. Try to make them visually unique and avoid recycling parts of layouts between them.
  • If you'll only be updating one map at a time, then why did you submit three for testing?
  • And if the maps are distinct enough, tailored to their gamemodes like you claim...then why not just make separate maps in the first place? Why are they all "versions of 2way"?

If you want to test which works best, that's fine, just please do it over time, not all at once.

But as someone with experience making maps for a lot of people, you can't please everyone, it's impossible. Make something you yourself want to play on.

I can personally play on any map. As a mapper I think it is good to make a map for the players and not for yourself unless you are just going to play with bots. So with so many different play styles and gamemode I have to make the same map with different gamemode. If you want me to do is that I can only post one version of the map on here and just leave the rest on the steam workshop.

That's their problem, not yours.
But for a mapper. It's your job to create a map that everybody will like to play. So I have to make different maps with different gamemodes.

Also one of the people who were play testing said that. This map will be great for a koth gamemode. So that is why I made a koth version. Also if I only had a koth map that can play test. How can I play test and get feed back on the 5cp for competitive? I am trying to be a good mapper and make a map that works for so many players.

If you still guys want to talk about this. Go to the 5cp version of the map because I have to take down all the other version.

I dont think it matters if you have one layout that supports all gamemodes decently well - they are still different maps and so its the exact same effect as if you made 5 good maps for 5 different gamemodes. This way is just much harder to achieve and will likely end up with a worse end product in the same amount of time.

I think it'd be wise to take a step back and try to make a good map for one gamemode, rather than a good map for 5.

I did make a good map. I think it's a good map because it has room for all of the classes. And it's not hard to change one map gamemode to another. You just have to change a few things and swap the logic for the different gamemode.
