Broken Vertex tool

When i used the vertex tool on a Ledge and export it this happens.

But in hammer it looks like this

Can someone help. Or at leased explain.

That's most likely an invalid brush. If you make one single brush concave with the vertex tool it will break and become an invalid brush. In Hammer, use the problem checker (alt+p) where it will probably tell you about an invalid brush. Delete it, then rebuild it again.

Every face of a brush must also be planar.

When you select the brush, does it look something like this?

Or more like this?
