Is this actually worth doing?

I was thinking about how little I've uploaded on youtube recently and thought: Why don't I create my own map show as well? Naturally, I wanted to introduce my neat little gimmick:

Ground Control aims to give Custom Maps a thorough testing for the best shortcuts, parkour spots, rollouts, freestyles and general jumping spots in order to help the community and map makers alike.
If you'd like to have your map shown in my little series, just post the download/thread and whatnot below, and maybe some extra notes if you feel like it?

This sounds like a nifty idea, at least to give people a bit more knowledge of the dos and don't of maps. Just as you said, it can also give map makers an idea of how others see their map which may or may not spark additional ideas. I would almost like to think of it as a thorough play test and examination honestly. What I wouldn't do though it accept maps that are pre-beta stage, possibly even late beta to save yourself from not so great entries or people attempting to submit the same map multiple times.

Is it just me or are a bunch of people jumping on the idea of reviewing maps? Is it some kind of trend going on or do people just want to be that guy?

At least you do have a focus on something different which could possibly be helpful to some people.

not surprising given the massive influx of custom maps added last year

Well, I was inspired by map dissection and weekly review, and realised that with the lack of content I've been putting on youtube, I may as well start something I know I can do: Jump places!

As a Pyro person who loves the Detonator, yes please.

It helps a map greatly if you can do cool rollouts on it. That's why Process is my favorite 5CP map, it's because of the initial spawn rollout with Soldier (or Demo, but I don't use the sticky launcher nearly enough for that (Loose Cannon hybrid knight ftw)). Abusing Source's physics on ramps is fun as hell.
