So, tonight while sitting there being a general failure, you know the usual, I had a bad idea!

A gamemode known as Hold The Line (htl_)

What is the goal of HTL? iunno, depends on what you want in the map. The general idea is that RED is Holding The Line (clearly) against BLU, who is trying to accomplish something that involves breaking RED's defense,

Why not Control points? Because this gamemode isn't really about control points! What could you do in your map to use it? Well basically like I said, something that makes RED have to hold a position, with BLU having to break their defense to accomplish a goal.

What am I doing with the mode? Well...

htl_protonopron!

Basically, RED is holding a facility of theirs, trying to protect the latest in Reliable Erradication and Destruction Devices (REDD) and BLU has found out about this! Of course taking it wouldn't be feasible, as most giant reactors don't score high on the portability scale. So instead, BLU will deliver 3 bombs, one for each of the generators. One for the generator, one for the emergency generator, and of course one for the emergency emergency generator! If BLU succeeds, the REDD will be destroyed, but if RED can Hold The Line, they will make a fortune selling REDDs to the wealthy.

Damn thought it said ProntoPorn!

So this sounds like a suicide run of CTF - run in with bomb and explode something - is that it?

There'll prolly be about a ten second moment for players to escape the generator rooms before they close off and ex-fucking-splode

Aight, lemme give the full game rule explanamation.

BLU will grab a bomb near their spawn and try to take it to RED's first generator. If the Bomb Holder is killed, the bomb has about 5 seconds before it resets for someone to grab it. If RED can Hold The Line until the timer goes to 0, then they win.

If BLU can deliver the first bomb, the first generator will be destroyed. as a result of said destruction, BLU will get a new spawn, closer to RED, along with some more time on the clock.

RED will lose their entrance to the first area, and move the line back to the room of the second generator. if RED loses the second generator, BLU goes forward, RED loses entrances, and has to Hold The final Line. The last defense will be at the last generator.

If RED fails to hold the final area, BLU wins. If RED can hold the final area, they can still win.

This is hardly a new concept, attack/defend CTF has already been done in maps like Haarp and Vector

So would these sites have to be detonated in any particular order? Because CSF was built off the back of the PLR entities; we could probably just apply the same tweaks to PL and make this work.

If you want all three sites to be open at once, similar to points A and B in Gravel Pit, we might have to request some stuff from Valve — but it's stuff I've been saying we could use for a while now, so I'd be all for it.

I thought it was gonna be like Dirty Bomb, where there is Payload, CTF, and CS-style bomb defusal in one level, along with side objectives that open or close alternative paths.

Is that even possible with TF2s limitations?

personally I'd go with a supply line (CP) that blu has to capture, if blu captures a point ahead of the main point, the front point will slowly begin to cap, and the supply line allows respawns in an area... I'm really calling this TC 2.0
