Is it safe to start making RD maps? I have a CTF map from 2008, that I think would play better as an RD map. Is Hammer set up for RD?

If you do want a decompiled version of asteroid, there is one on this thread. I will warn you that it is the old version of the map, so I don't know if any of the entities have changed or not.

Thanks loads. Definitely will help.

The map is a remake of 0fear from Weapons Factory. Any of you remember Weapons Factory? It was a Team Fortress-like mod for Quake 2 and Quake 3.

All I did was change the game type property for the intelligence from CTF to Robot Destruction, and that's all it took to crash the map. Is there something in worldspawn I need to change so the game knows this is a Robot Destruction map?

You need to change all the game logic, pretty much look at how rd_asteroid does it

Thanks. I inserted a tf_logic_robot_destruction entity in the map, and that fixed it.

Next problems... robots not moving along the path (stationary), and you can't add points to the intelli-core value after you pick it up (stays at zero).

Edit: Intellicore problems solved. Needed both trigger_rd_vault_trigger and func_capturezone for designing the capture areas. Still can't get the robots to move.

The bots are intelligent and not just automatic tracktrains. The paths are just guidelines, not forced positions. You need to build a navigation mesh. It's the same as for player replacement bots.

I haven't found a tutorial for Robot Destruction. So this thread may be the closest thing. I may do a quicky video on my map.

Here yah go! A functioning RD map (alternate link, two posts below). Next to no playtesting, so curious if it plays well.

In Hammer, there is mention of a "Finale" robot. I tried it for a 4th wave, but the Finale bot crashed the game. Changed it to a King bot, and it works.

On my to-do list. Use TF2 teleporters for the spawn room. Get rid of the sliding gate. Move the mid field tanks a touch further from the wall. Have a set-up time... so need to seal off mid-field for that. Add more general TF2 "flare".

Up at the top under "Downloads." Click it and you'll find a link that says "Add" where you can upload maps, models, prefabs, etc.

No setup time

I'm not getting any setup time with these settings. Only waiting for players. This is for an RD map. What am I missing?
