Skybox issues

Hey guys,

I watched 2 or 3 tutorials for putting skybox on the levels, but those didn't solve the problem. all the skybox textures that I applied to walls, its kinda buggy. the visual doesn't seem right.

uh... maybe you can tell us what you did exactly? Is there a skybox texture specified at map properties?

These are the steps that I follow:

1. select all the upper blocks:

2. select skybox texture --> apply ---> fit ---> ok

3. renaming the skybox in MapProperties:

*Facepalm* Look I'm not going to blame you or anything but you did it wrong... Use the skybox/skybox texture from TOOLS Textures. You clearly used a cloud skybox texture and then went to map properties and changed the skybox to that sky box texture you have chosen... but anyway I think I know your problem right away.

You have to apply toolsskybox to the brushes you want to become skybox brushes; after compile the game takes these textures and renders the 2d skybox texture on them, making it seem like there actually isn't anything bounding the map.

To put it another way, the skybox tool texture works more or less like a green-screen. The only reason the "real" skybox textures are even available in the texture browser at all is likely to make it easy to look up what they are and pick one out when they go into the map properties to set one.
