Hi, all! I'm kind of new to the whole mapping scene, and I have a problem.

I tried to follow the tutorial at "valvesoftware.com/wiki/Making_a_controllable_brush_vehicle" to make my own controllable vehicle. However, one of the props it needs (The seat) is exclusive to Half-Life 2. Is there any way around this for TF2?

Every prop from Hl2 is also in TF2, check that your model browser dosn't filter the Hl2 props out.
If you are talking about a prop from episode 1 or 2, then you gotta port the prop over. Or just take a prop from TF2, whats the problem?

If you mean you can't make a half-life vehicle : The problem is with an entity, not a prop. props are the decorative stuff you put to make stuff look good, entities are everything you put in your map using the entity tool, usually reffering to something with some unique properties that allow you to do something special. There is no real way to make vehicles in tf2, it doesn't have the drivable stuff's code in the game. However, it is possible, using a lot of entities, to make some type of pseudo-drivable car (ABS did it). But it doesn't work on a multiplayer server as far as I know.

If you mean you need some specific prop: First of all, you don't really need ANY prop to make something work. Props are decorations. Secondly, using hl stuff in a tf2 map usually looks bad. Thirdly, as lampenpam said, most hl stuff is already in tf2 by default, and if not, you can import it or use another one.
