A recommendation of carving, haha
Hadn't thought of that, and I bet that's the only thing that can possibly achieve it. I'll have to see how ugly it's going to turn out...

it is possible, I recommend carving with a cylinder :carve:

There's a reason why when you hover over that image it says "carve666".

I'll assume (hope to God) that Fubar was pullin' ya leg there, but honestly, I haven't had good experiences with the carve tool myself. I'd try doing it with the arch tool to avoid polygon junk

If you want to make that exact set of arches (wider at the top, curving like the Colloseum or something) I'd make it a model. Making this shape with brushes would be way too time consuming and incredibly frustrating to be worth it.

So I finally got around to trying it out with brushes.

Stretches off the grid into infinity I'm sure. Clicking any of the involved brushes causes hammer to lag, it would probably crash if I attempted to move any of it either.

It just occurred to me I tried this with an arch rather than cylinder, I'll try it with the cylinder, but I expect the same results.

I would try making an arch tool that is really "thick" (in the direction you would walk when going through it), then clip it on angles to get the tilt (if you pick good nice binary ratios, everything should be on grid). Then put it in an instance and go crazy with func_instance to rotate it around and make a room.

Ding ding ding ding we have a winner!

Boojum is right on the money. Make one small section in an instance, clip it to some reasonable angle, then simply rotate copies of the instance to that angle. All the edges will line up perfectly with no floating point errors, everything will be editable on-grid in your instances and you'll get mega mapping street crew for such an interesting wall.

Instances are relatively new (well... for me. I guess not for the lifetime of TF2), but a lot of people still haven't used them or used them enough to have them in mind for opportunities to use them.

"Mega Mapping Street Crew" should be the name of our urban map making clan. Complete with our own graffiti overlay that we use like our answer to Playstuff's pinup posters.
