So, when I was arguing with GPuzzle about a no-build on CTF_Arroyo, I had mentioned on my Tumblr (while answering a question from a third party related to no-builds) that I would like to one day make a remake of Gorge that, among other things, retools the area around the first point. If I actually go through with this, it probably won't be for a while, but I wanted to ask for some opinions of how exactly I should go about this.
I think we all remember Gorge. Before Valve put in the team specific no-builds on the roof in front of BLU's forward spawn, it was an infamously broken sentry spot. The no-builds were probably for the best balance-wise, but it always felt like a mere band-aid fix to me. So a map idea I came up with was an alternate version of Gorge, that removes the no-build while altering the area around the point to make the spot easier to attack and less broken. This goal would probably require a complete redesign of the whole area, but that's why I'm bringing it up; if it took any less, then the idea wouldn't be different enough from Gorge for me to consider it worth making.
So I'd like to hear your opinion. What made that spot so broken? What changes would have to be made to make the spot less broken? And as long as we're thinking about this "Gorge2" map idea, are there any other things about Gorge that could use tweaking?
