One of my map ideas incorporates a large mansion into the battlefield, but I can't seem to figure out what the style for mansions of the TF2 era were.
Anybody have any photos of houses or names of architects that designed mansions of that specific time period?

It can even be a gallery or museum-type building.

Mann Manor. The only mansion in TF2.
Edit: No Mercy architeture is a mix of modern and 50's/60's architeture. Can't remember any other thing.

But mann manor's an old-ass building that the two teams happen to fight in.
I'm talking about a modern base of operations that red constructed, due to, you know, owning half of the planet.

I found a style called "prairie school" that works well. "Postmodern" is closer to the correct time period, but it's so close to modern styles that players might find it breaking immersion.

Well, there is Googie architecture that sort of incorporates "the future of tomorrow" it was popular in the 50's.

-Art deco might be cool too since it was still a popular style in the 20's-30's but around in the 60's
-Modernist is good and accurate to the time period.
-Prairie school is pretty much the Frank Lloyd Wright style of building. I think it'd be difficult to translate it into a working game-play environment. He made hallways narrow with short ceilings so when you move into another room, it's a greater sense of release.

So it'll probably turn out to be a sacrifice of design for game-play. Just do a layout first of the indoors area and envision someone living in it, and what would be best suited for a specific type of room. Mann Manor does this well where the ground floor has enough space for the library, and the windowed room for a sitting area.

Good luck

Remember Bluttarch and Redmon were so concentrated on figthing for gravel, even when gasoline existed. So maybe they concentrated in only one building style. (per envoirement). Do you understand what mean?

For the industrial buildings this is true, but they wouldn't actually live or have their headquarters in something like mountain lab or coldfront.
