Alpha channel problems in hammer

Hi everyone,

My Hammer seems to have deteriorated throughout the day.

It started crashing more frequently, and now I just opened my map (cp_adamas, remember the name ;)) and it seems to have randomised the textures.

I advise frequent backups, or not using it at all.

Shaded textures doesn't work for me in the 3d viewport, my displacements got inverted, and hammer freezes after 10 seconds :(

Sounds exactly the same with me. So frustrating.

EDIT: I'm going to try and restore to a previous, pre-update version to see if that helps. Will report back.

DOUBLE EDIT: Nope. Goddammit valve.

not to mention (at least for me) tf2 crashing cos it cannot load or pre cache hats/medals/sunglasses/other-cosmetic-items

Finished all school projects and went to holiday. Got back and started mapping yesterday. I was happy with my result and went to sleep. Started the hammer and saw it crash. Somehow it seems that Valve wants to sell me some games. Midweekmadness!

Fortunately for me I did a successful compile of strata_a15 last night, so if I can't cope with these 20 second crashes to make the few tweaks, I can always fall back on that.

But damn it Valve get your crap together :mad:

OK, it's been a while since I played around with the SDK's more advanced features; what exactly was the method for creating a standalone mod in a specific version of the engine? Because out of boredom and curiosity I double-clicked the "Create a Mod" entry while I still had "Source 2009" selected, and to my shock and awe it worked. I guess. I mean, it didn't give me an error like I thought it used to.

But there's no source sdk base 2009, how could you possibly run a mod based off 2009 code ? :O

its horrible. first Propper stops working so I could not create models for tf2 ( I have no time to learn Blender so If I ever want to create hats I realllly need Propper) and now I am not able to create anything cause Hammer crushes every 10 seconds.... valve needs to learn to wait with updates till they debugged it. :-(

I don´t know what is the difference, either. But it worked for me. :D

EDIT: Seems like the problem is not hammer, but the SDK.

So how do I get this launcher thing to work? Every single time I try to run hammer it says "Cannot find undefinedhammer. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again."
