I'm putting together a custom texture pack of TF2 textures I've made. I want to know from the community what kind of materials you want/need.

Do you want more:
  • Custom logos (red/Blue), decals and signs
  • wall textures
  • floor textures
  • ceiling textures
  • metals
  • wood
  • Water (magma, acid, muddy)
  • nature (grass, stone)
  • special (marble, trim, camo, etc)
  • other (specify)

Let me know. You can choose more than one category.

More wall textures designed specifically for red or blue.

I don't think there are any designated ceiling textures at the moment so a few of those wouldn't hurt

personally I think all of those things could use some more.
Though I think mostly we could use more blue wood textures and more red industry textures.
I'd also love to see more natural textures, since I hope to some day make a forest themed map. so mud, dirty water, swamp ground, etc.
Skyboxes could use some more things like night/dusk/dawn, space (maybe with planets and such), and some type of vortex-like one.

I like the idea of a night or space skybox. However, skyboxes aren't the average run of the mill textures. I'll see what I can do, but I can't promise anything on new skyboxes. If I do get promising results, I'll probably add those on a different zip file, and write a quick "how to" on using my custom skyboxes.

Wood, metal, and concrete all need more wall/floor/ceiling textures.

Thanks for the comments guys. Keep voting.

My first custom texture pack will have at least 50 new textures. So keep telling me what you want.

Oeeeehoe spaceweasels... its very hard to make them look and feel like tf2. Just remember this and i know you won't screw it up.

Textures are impressionistic, they didn't use reference they just started painting with a big fat brush.
So impressionistic but the material stays always clear.

Can't wait to see what you come up with :)

You know what might be nice? railing and stair textures.

I have a nice metallic texture that works great for stairs or plates. I'm woking on adding more metallic textures.

Most will be TF2 inspired, impressionistic. A few will be more "realistic", but no so much that it's distracting or out of place.

night-time skyboxes!
Before I went to bed last night, I played around with making skybox textures. I should be able to release a pack of new skybox textures in the near future.

Ye of little faith. ;)

It's easier than I though. This is just a test skybox, when I release the real ones, they'll look better.

Nice! Another suggestion for night skyboxes. It may be kinda cool to have a heavily light poluted one (like how you'd see the night sky around an industrial area) to fit with the TF2 Industrial theme. It would look kinda goldish or purplish, at least going by the way the sky looks around here at night (yay for industrial areas being built next to residental areas *hugs New Jersey*)

More skyboxes indeed, some more metal and wall textures would be good too.
I'm always stumped as to what to use for ceiling textures so they are great to.
For every texture you make you should make a red a blu and a neutral version, that will please the hoards :) (and me)

Brick - more neutral colors needed (browns, tans, etc...

Concrete - Definately more (sets) are needed. Even some with chipped paint or just worn looking. If enough new ones are made, they can be used for ceilings, walls and floors. More concrete is never a bad thing.

Signs/Overlays - One thing I think lacking is "natural" overlays or signs that not really signs at all, just overlay materials to help enhance existing materials. Such as a plaster overlay which you could put over a brick wall to give a look similary to this.

You could do the same thing with "VEGITATION". Vegitation overlays (vines, moss, etc..) Matter of fact, if you had enough vegitation overlays, you could make alot of your base textures look very different. Just with vines alone, you could have dried out vines, lush vines, etcc.

................And you could also add the overlays to displacement, giving your cliff walls detail with moss and what not. The key though is to make them TF2 looking and not totally realistic looking.

And definately more Red and Blu signs. You can NEVER have enough of those (in Nuetral colors too).

And one thing I definately don't see enough of is natural rock or stone walls. Block too.

Wood - Yep, definately more Blu themed wood is needed.

And some more roofs.
