You've seen it. You know it happens. Mappers everywhere are faced with personal dilemmas, and good work is lost as a result. Be it a map abandoned at alpha, released without optimisation, or just plain forgotten, it happens all around us. But I will stop the waste. I am setting up the map completion shop.

The map completion shop is a community project, aimed at utilising the individual skills of those in the community. This project will consist of 3 changing parts, and could possibly work. We will take unfinished projects, finish them, and then release them under the combined efforts of those involved.

First, we need people. Whatever you can do, list your job. We need anybody from blockers, detailers, custom content creators or just plain skilled members of the community.

Second, we need maps. Anybody with a map still in blocking which is being abandoned, post it here. Ideas are accepted, but not preferred. Remember, the failure of the map must be in the creator's lack of time (or specific inability), not the quality of the layout.

Finally, we need assignments. Whenever a new map is posted, or is passed on from one mapper's ability, it is thrown into the public domain. Whoever feels they can do it, can pick up this map and start working on it. Once you've done what you feel you need to do, or run out of momentum, update the version and move on. During a project, if you feel the map would work with some custom content or a major project, see if you can get a team together.

The emphasis of this project is collaboration. Anything done here can and will be discredited, and you must respect that any entitlement or ownership is debatable. If you want to put restrictions on your work, you can, but I cannot guarantee infallability. Contributors can do as much or as little as they want, but keep in mind that if you can't release something quick enough, it's perfectly fine for someone else to do it as well, and release theirs first.

This project will combine what could work with the community project, the artpass contest, and all the collaborative projects ever attempted. Now I ask, who of you can help? Please, sign up, help out, and give us your unfinished endeavours.

Neat idea, but I'd suggest removing the blocking out part. If a map hasn't even been completely laid out, it's more of a map that "never got started" than "never got finished" and you might end up with too many things that you effectively do all the work on.

Well, there's some maps, like Whalerace for example, that 1-2 stages of a multistage are done but the 3rd one needs to be finished. That would require blocking.

Well the idea is to combine the effort of whatever everybody has to offer, and in some cases that skill is starting something that doesn't get finished. Obviously stuff like pl_256fort would get filtered out, but getting started is where some mappers fail. And cactus, I think you missed a bit.

Anybody can come on at any time to work on anything that needs to be done, and the list of people is for when somebody needs help. So you don't really need to say ahead of time if you aren't planning on collaborating with people. What we need right now are some unfinished maps to finish.
