Let me just start off with - I am not a mapper.

However, I host a few servers for a gaming clan which I run (4 years this June) and we currently have 2 TF2 servers. I've always been a huge fan of custom maps although I'll admit, there are some in my clan who cry everytime we try something new. Sunoxen is a part of my gaming clan (and a part of this forum) and he can attest to that!

Anyway, I know who many of you are because I've played or tested your maps. I typically get my maps from fpsbanana - mostly because I've been on that site for more years than I care to admit. I actually have credit for many CS 1.6 maps only because I uploaded them years ago and it was before there was an "author" area. Although, I always give credit where credit is due. Thankfully, for the most part, the actual mapper uploads maps anymore. ANYWAY.... I actually signed up because of pl08 (aka pl_valley). Necro is damn near impossible to find and he's not on fpsbanana and I wanted to give him feedback... blah blah blah... here I am.

So mappers, if you want someone to try out your map, I'd be happy to do so. I'm not a fan of ctf or well/granary type maps - but love unique game play, dustbowl type maps and pl maps. Gravelpit maps are okay (broma is great!). I was actually thinking how mountcoaster would make a great pl map.... especially since out of everyone in my clan, I'm the only one who loves that map. :(

Anyway, thought I'd say hi since I dropped in and commented on some stuff. I always think it's odd when some random shows up and posts on my clan forums. So... hi. :)

Welcome!

We welcome all mappers and non mappers alike. One of our moderators doesn't map!
Feel free to submit your servers so they can be posted on our server page list. It's great to have all the servers running customs.

Thanks guys.

MangyCarface, they actually made me a map critic on FPSBanana. Way... way back when, I was a moderator. I took old cs 1.6 maps and took screenshots of them so they'd be on the site. Was pretty boring but I like things to be neat and organized. And it always bugged me that they had some with screenshots and some without! Now you can't even submit without them.

AI is actually doing a map night tonight. Every now and then I convince everyone to play custom 24/7 with me. :) On the menu is:

cp_freezone_a1
cp_hardhat_b2
cp_mof_a3
cp_freightyard_b3
cp_bloodstained
cp_museum_b2
cp_blackmesa_beta
cp_secretbase_b1
cp_survival_beta3
cp_stag
cp_oilrig_b3

Although I hear there might be newer versions of one or two of these (blackmesa, survival) so those should replace the old versions. Anyone is welcome to join us. Starts at 8pm MST (that's 10pm EST for those bad at math) and the server IP is 166.70.133.133:27016. Hope it's okay that I posted that here. I can't wait to play something different. I'm getting so sick of goldrush. :/

And don't forget the UK is in BST not GMT right now, so you need to take into account that BST is GMT+1

Yeah, that cp_seige map looks like it's gonna be great. I suppose the nice thing about this compared to say fpsbanana is that since mappers are still working on maps, you can see their progress and not upload several versions of the same map over and over. For someone like me who has the most unreliable internet on the earth, uploading maps to the server is a HUGE undertaking. :/

Plus, most mapper are hanging out in the steam chat so you can provide real-time feedback and map testing =) heh.
