Skybox doesnt block visibility... help?

I was under the impression the skybox would make things behind it not render... but my map has this:

There is a skybox brush separating the areas in hammer but it renders as if there isn't. What am I doing wrong here?

Basically, the skybox brush just says render an image behind everything when looking at it. The way you have your map optimized it still renders that area from back here, which means either reoptimize your map or slap an areaportal on that door down there and all other entrances to that back area.

Yup, use areaportals to plug holes between areas such as windows and doorways. This physically seperates areas and prevents objects being rendered from behind vis blocking brushes.
