Hey, i'm creating the central area of my first map for the capture point challenge and ive created the cap prop_dynamic model but im unsure how to create the hovering yellow ! triangle/team indicator that goes above it, i been using this from the wiki for help:http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/TF2/Creating_a_Capture_Point but im stuck here, i assume its the info_overlay entity.
So i added one into hammer that floats above the cap model with the texture it says to use but it doesn't seem to work. Also how do i connect it to the cap point?

Also couple of other questions if you dont mind:
1. Entities are so confusing, the wiki isnt really noob-friendly and i'm at a loss as to what most of the properties of anything does, any helpful TF2 specific guides?

2. I'm gunna need to create some very simple overlays and models for my map to look right and the model section here is just for showing off what you've allready made, any modeling programs that are free and easy to use with some helpful urls relating to it for reference.

... what exactly do you mean by "yellow ! triangle/team indicator?" You mean the trigger texture? or the hologram that's projected above the cap point that starts off as a grey triangle with a ? on it, that changes to RED's logo or BLU's logo when capped?

For the trigger texture, just open up your texture menu and type in trigger, and you should find it

For the hologram, that IS your team_control_point entity, and it changes between RED and BLU autoatically

You can download this tool-pack and open up the gametype library to see working examples.

As taotd says, the control-point hologram is automatic, along with the control-point base-plate-thingy. The "info_overlay" thing means the yellow warning stripes on teh ground, and for that you want to first pick the hazard tape texture and then use the :overlaytool: button, instead of trying to place it the same way you placed the control-point.

Except you can examine what I've set up if you wish to learn how it's made. Also that's not really a "valve guide", it is a wiki which anyone can edit and a lot of those (especially the payload one) are horribly written or have unclear/extraneous instructions.

We should set up a group to fix what has been wronged! (ie a simpler, noob-friendly, wiki-editing team)

I'd enjoy that :)
How would it work though would we have a section which people could upload threads asking for help about what to do? Wouldn't that come under mapping ?'s and discussions?

Anyway i'd think that'd be useful nice idea :)
