Hey guys, first release and first map, for that sake.
Just a basic, very clean payload map (I wasn't really content/sure on adding too many details)

Oh, and yeah, the only playtesting that has been done is by me, so I may need to rent a server or have someone host it for me. This is why I specified it is "b1" and not the final release, since I'm not very sure about balance in the map, even though as the map shows, BLU has an advantage on snipers, but as soon as the Payload is near the final points, it gets harder for BLU and RED has an almost iron defense, and with the locations of the last points snipers are rendered useless. The combination of the extra time added by the first few easy cap points may give enough time to successfully capture without too much or little time left.

Also constructive crits. Go easy on me though ;)

(Not able to continue development on map)

Well this map looks like it should be in alpha 1, not beta 1 unless you have playtested it a lot and want this to look like a spytech-textured alpha... I would add some good scenery and more detail, definitely a less linear route (full-map turns).

Hate to be harsh, but thats kind of for starters...

I think that's what he means, but i find a lot of people don't know to first distinguish their maps as alpha 1 and not beta one. I personally did not know about the whole alpha first then beta then RC then final until well, not too long ago actually so I wouldn't judge him on that. That's just a matter of renaming the file to the appropriate place in the dev cycle. :)

I see what you mean, but I AM still a first timer. I'll try to see what I can do about it, though.

Newsflash - I am unable to continue development on the map because of some corrupted files. On another account I have been studying some maps for details, and I'm thinking of a new PL map to do. This one will be longer, will have more details, will be less linear and have more defend/attack sideroutes.

that sucks, good luck on the new one

Thanks. Since this was my first map, I've learned a lot more than when I started this one, I guess. So hopefully it will be a better one. And I will start with submitting it in alpha this time ;)

If you still want to continue on the map, I had the same problem and there is a possible solution. You can decompile the last working .bsp if you have no working .vmf's (which I didn't), and continue off of that.

Well, I don't know If I want to continue now since I've already started work on the next map and I've learned some stuff since. Maybe it's just filling up space to have an unbalanced/unfinished looking beginner map lying around, but I don't feel like continuing the map that much.
