Silo V5

Who in the heck thought co-ownership of a missile silo was a good idea?!

Hello. I got Hammer++ recently for fun. I've never done mapping before and I thought I'd just mess around for a bit with the editor to see what it could do. Little did I know that it'd turn into 3 days of my life pretty much being dedicated entirely to this thing. It may not have perfected lighting or the best optimization but for my first map I think it's a pretty good effort.

It's (very loosely) based on a base I built in minecraft with a friend, which itself was inspired by TF2 so I guess it all comes full circle.

It's a bit on the small side, but the point area is really open and there's a lot of verticality. I hope it isn't too fast for most people.

This was more designed to be funny than competitively viable. I went with a lot of unusual design choices, mainly because I can already play more standard maps made by much more experienced mappers.

I'll probably improve it more as time goes on (mainly in the lighting department) but for now I hope it's at least enjoyable enough to get a response.

  1. Blegh

    Apparently any change I make to the map has to be accompanied by a new version number to be accepted as an update by the test server. So, here's V5, the exact same as the last iteration of V4, but alright.
  2. Preempting an exploit

    In testing, I found that someone standing on top of the rocket when it launches could get it stuck. So, I added a little fix for that.
  3. The Rocket Lives!

    Mhm, now it launches whenever someone wins the game. I'd like to make the exhaust kill everyone, but before I can get particles for it that actually feel beefy enough for that to feel justified, I'll hold off. Where is it aimed at? That's a...
