    Hi all,
I just created my very first TF2 map, but I don't know how to test it...
As far as I can see, it's bug free, but it's always good to have more eyes on it.

Also, it's a KOTH map, that's supposed to fast paced high kill rate map based on a map I made for Delta Force almost a decade ago.
It's really important to test it with 24 players, so I know if it's not a bit TOO high kill rated, since in DF there were no sentry guns etc.

How do you guys test your maps before uploading them here?
Is there anyone out there who has a dedicated server, who wants to help me test the map?

    Thanks!

    OK, cool!

Just a couple of follow-up questions:
    1) can I upload a map here and not have it visible to everyone yet? Still needs detailing and cosmetics, just want to test run the map to know if I should make any major changes before I get to the decals, overlays and props.
    2) Can I just post pictures in the Showcase->Maps forum without actually uploading the map yet?

    Thanks!

    1. As far as I know, no, not to these forums. But there are plenty of free hosting sites. Also, even if you put it on here, if you don't advertise it in any way it will just be in the map downloads section and pretty much go unnoticed.

    2. I believe you can do that. Just label it as in the "planning stage" when it asks. (I am talking about the map forum section)

Why don't you want to post a download? Nobody cares about the aesthetics if your map is in an early version and maybe someone will run through your map and give you some useful feedback.

You can make a thread and post only screenshots, but if you have a playable version of your map, the best thing you can do is creating a thread and uploading both map and pictures.

OK, I guess I'll upload the map and some pictures...
One problem I have, it's kind of a bunker\tunnel map, so the pics don't really show how it's built.
You think I shoud take a birds eye of the map (removing all the roof parts)?

    Thanks for the help!

There's a console command for taking overview screenshots:
    cl_leveloverview [number]

The bigger number you put in, the futher from the map the camera will be.
This command removes perspective and roofs.

Oh, of course, sorry, I was writing quickly and fucked it up. Updated that post so that people don't get confused.

Well, My map must be extra special, because all I get in leveloverview is a nice green screen with ammo boxes and medpacks rotating... No walls, no floors, no control point, no nothing....
Is there a way around this?

Also, how do I take screenshots without the weapon I'm holding blocking a third of the way?
