I need a very simple model edit, that being the model props_hydro\road_railing01 with a rendered back. The current one is only visible from the front.

Thanks!

The important thing is that you tried.

With my nonexistant knowledge of modeling, I assumed it jsut has some form of nodraw on the back of the sking. Prehaps an alpha channel or something.

I don't mind saying though, that this prop is crucial to the project I'm involved in.

it is kinda nodraw in a sense, but from I can see it wont work right and im not exactly sure how you would "fix" it, I googled it too but i cant find anything on how it exactly works. One thing I could do is just make a cover to hide it.

That's fine., as long as it looks like it's the back of the thing, because half the time, you will be behind this.

maybe the nocull qc-command can help you guys:
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/$nocull

otherwise you could just take the polygons with no backsite, flip them and weld the vertices together, so you don't have to fool around with uv-editing...

I say we do that, as it would look good and fit with no problems.

here some preview pics. If you like it ill just make an offical compile of it, maybe add a few screws on the back.

The model probably has to be hand built to match...I don't believe there is an easy fix for this one.

that is the problem , and its just too much work, so I guess adding poor metal supports on the back fits the style too and is a simple but most impotantly a usable alternative.

It's not bad, not exactly what I had wanted, but I didn't realise the amount of work involved.

Can you smooth out the back a bit? So it dosen't stick out so much?

Can't you just extract the material and add "nocull" 1 (with a $ sign) to the vmt??

i tried messing with nocull with no sucess. I tried it on the model and that didnt work, so I thought it could be the material and that didnt work either....

flipping them was another thing i tried but it problem since the model is angled very weird and just created a headache...

Sinistar, that is great!

But if I'm allowed to nitpick, I noticed some of the ground posts intersect the metal. Can all the posts be on the outside?

lol dont worry about nitpicking, the way I see it is that is that if it helps me improve my modeling and makes a better model for your map then it'll kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Critiques ftw.

Oh, also, even though they're already textured, can you extend the end metal bits on each end to cover the edges of the railing? Right now they look out of place?
