I'd kinda like to see someone recreate Minecraft snow as a particle effect, just as a proof of concept, but I suspect it would be a much bigger resource drain than the real thing.

Been working on rebuilding all of A to feel less cramped and to better fit the Nautical theme for a4 of cp_nautilus. Pretty happy with the results so far:

I think out looks pretty nice! Just beware Pyrosharks and rocket jumping soldiers with that low water...

There's nothing wrong with water like that (I actually personally like it), it's just something you keep in mind. I remember seeing some thread somewhere about how competitive players don't like low water (mainly due to how it messes with rocket jump physics), so if that's something important to you you should definitely take it into consideration

It would be much better as a animated texture on a brush
I think Minecraft's rain is literally just an animated texture that stretches into infinity and repeats every block. That would be prohibitively expensive to render, I think.

Minecraft's weather effects are pretty much just an animated texture that surrounds the player on the chunk they are currently on. If you stand on the edge of a chunk you can see the texture move to the chunk you are about to go onto.

Working on Stoleo some more. So far, I've changed the name to "Brunei" (name courtesy of @red3pit) and reworked the A point. Here's an in-Hammer before-and-after comparison. (Images are large, so I put them in spoilers)

I'm far from done, though. I'm making some real progress with this, but there's still many changes and additions I want to make!

I feel like the name Brunei would be more appropriate if the map was still jungle themed.

Yeah, you're right. I'll probably change it to something else before I post the update.

Ummm... Burnei then?

Hmm. That's good.

I was thinking something more along the lines of "Stiletto", but Burnei is good too.
