Just make TF3 a Grordbort game

Long before they ever put a Grordbort weapon in this game, I said that a TF2 prequel that was steampunk with earlier versions of the classes (Abe Lincoln pyro, natch) would be the sweetest game ever made. Like the best 45 seconds of Wild Wild West stretched out forever.

So, now that Valve has committed themselves to updating this old game with performance-clogging laser effects and zillion-polygon-but-totally-boss Grordbort guns, what is keeping them from just making a full on cross-over game? It wouldn't really have to be TF3, per se, but a cartoony class-based FPS that would be Team Fortress in all but name.

Seriously, Valve, just do it. You're clearly obsessed with steampunk stuff as much all other nerds are, so just get it all out of your system and make one big awesome game out of it instead of a series of periodic TF2 updates.

edit: I think I actually meant to post this in Off Topic originally, my bad

It wasn't supposed to be a rant. I actually think they should do this and wanted to know if anyone else thinks so. I only posted it after seeing those pictures of Scout and Medic Grordbort weapons that Weta uploaded to Facebook and the Steam Workshop. I'm annoyed that they keep cramming these things into TF2, but that's my point: I think it would be amazing if they actually made a completely steampunk/Grordbort Team Fortress game.

Anyway, I didn't know if this counts as "Team Fortress 2 Talk," but I didn't know where else to post a silly idea about possible TF3 things (other than SPUF, obviously).

I was actually hoping that a new (and newly optimized) Team Fortress game in this vein would be this TOP SECRET project they're working on new, but I'm pretty sure it's not.

NO ONE GIVES A SHIT

About what? Are you talking to me or Wimples? If it's me, like I already said, my OP wasn't me bitching about low fps; I'm just interested in what others might think if about a complete Grordbort game. If you don't give a shit about that, you don't have to be an ass about it.

Half of me thought about the idea that the end result of TF2's evolution would technically be TF3. But then that wouldn't be entirely true. Although L4D2 was essentially a glorified expansion pack it had to come stand alone from L4D because of the massive difference in the engine code. Or so we were told.

I imagine it'll be several years before we see a TF3, if we do at all. Probably we'll just get spiritual successors like we had to make do with the community made FF (Fortress Forever) after TFC slowly died like a rabid fox with 4 broken legs.

Or you could just go play games like Monday Night Combat or Brawlers or that amusing Chinese TF2 ripoff with manga characters.

Super Monday Night Combat is pretty gosh-darned excellent even in beta, I highly recommend trying to get into the beta if you liked the original MNC, which has been basically dead for a while now (unfortunately).

Like Grazr said, although it can be cool to speculate about, I don't believe we will be seeing something that resembles TF3 anytime soon.

Just take everything that's not the medic and pyro update and make it part of tf3, then re-release tf2 so I can have my game back pls.

Speaking of which, if anyone needs a beta invite I've got three sitting around. Hit me up in a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you via Steam.

So, what you're saying is, any time Valve feels like doing a collab with another company, it is "another game worthy". HEY GUYS! COMMUNITY FORTRESS 3! ALL COMMUNITY MADE CONTENT! Since most of the weapons are community made at this point... it only seems right, from what you're saying. Companies work with each other all the time. Very dissapointed in this thread.
