I recently recorded myself doing a little detailing from scratch, complete with displacements, some props, and a little building.

It's a bit over 2 hours of video, and most of it is relatively boring. Livestream finally added it to my playlist, so you can skip around if you want to:

Map Detailing From Scratch

Here are a couple of (hammer) screens from the point where I stopped streaming:

by the way, if there's any interest in another stream, I'd be willing to do more to help people out.

I'd be more inclined to watch if I knew what the final product looked like.

The strange thing is Hammer is more interesting when you're doing rather than watching. Unless someone is speed mapping a layout, watching people fly around setting I/O's and entity properties is relatively boring.

If you're going to do videos that might go on youtube it might be worth formatting them into "how to" vids that cover specific topics.

The other option is to do timelapses with cool ambient music in the background. At least i believe this'll get more veiwers than slowly and trivially doing random details.

Good point, added a couple of hammer screens.

and Grazr, I don't have time for that right now. I might do something more interesting in a little while, but if I do it'll be an entirely new video. That's why I was asking if there's any interest at all in more streams.

Me and a friend did a three hour Iron Mapper, sped it up and and put music in the background. Peaked about 1,000 views before I removed it. Ill check out your stream when I get home. I love watching other people map.

If I can ask, are you still doing this and when are prime hours for you streaming this?

It has been a while since I have mapped and I feel as if I lost my edge a little, wanted to catch up on things.

Thanks, I'm new to mapping and I learned tons from just watching you. Please keep posting these.

Yeah, Moose was tragically gunned down outside his home in Tombstone, Arizona last year. Though we at the Cafe have never been able to fill the void in our hearts, we have managed to move on since that horrible, horrible day.

lol

EDIT: I'd probably still like just spending some time chilling out and detailing a room or something, but I don't have any interest in mapping for TF2 so :(
