I think it is becoming especially prudent to have that model/texture request thread there's been talk of...I know it had come down to the idea of "no we won't use it" or "we don't need it", but it seems like it's becoming a important thing.

indeed. i wrote a PM to DJive to give us an updated opinion in the thread you are referring to - he's out of town atm, but he'll reply once he's back, he answered me :)

it's really unorganized right now, isn't it ?

edit: Jonah, so Youme makes the models and your request is fullfilled, right ? think you should clear it, so not multiple people make something ^^

I did try to get one in the mod corner, but it's slow going over there.

I'm not going make you any snow specifics, I'm going to make a big ol selection of modular and rotatable snow corners and edges so that you can put them on your rooftops. As well as other people's rooftops.

Sorry for the necrobump, but wanted to find out if there was any progress by anyone on the generic/modular roof snow idea. A search only turned up this thread plus a bunch of snow themed maps.

I'd give it a try myself, but I'm pretty crap at keeping rounded models at low poly. :)

Thanks,

Kep

Yeah well, I don't personally need that anymore, since I decided that it won't be snowing in snowdrift...
As for the generic snow, youme said he doesn't feel like doing it because it's boring, or something like that.

Displacements are currently how I'm doing it, yes. Models are just easier to use and place, and look better IMO. Displacements can look 'jagged' in small clumps, even at a power of 4.

As for the generic snow, youme said he doesn't feel like doing it because it's boring, or something like that.

Oh well. Guess I'll give it a try once I get further on the map. Not exactly an emergency or anything.

Thanks.
