I agree with Youme in sentiment, although I honestly have more fun playing Survival with bots than humans.

You've played it right? The mapping is atrocious compared to some free custom campaigns out there.

L4D is a broken game and a faulty franchise. Shit can the lot of it and get back to selling us shit we actually want to buy.

Every single custom L4D map I've played is bug-ridden, messy, confusing and for the most part, poorly made - and I've played some of the most popular campaigns.

Crash Course is great, there's a lot to explore, and whilst the detailing might not be up to scratch in certain less-important areas, it plays brilliantly and runs brilliantly.

This.

Which ironicly defeats its purpose as an online co-op multiplayer.

Just some things about the game make it hard to enjoy it.. how a game should be enjoyed. I want to enjoy it.. but meh.

L4D - if you have 4 good griends and a garenteed good server, it's an amazing game. Anything else and it's shit.

Maybe it's just me, but I think if you try playing any other way, you're playing it wrong. Joining a pub game and complaining about the idiots is like playing blindfolded and complaining about not being able to hit anything.

My clan pays $6.03/mo for a 8 man server. Getting 8 of the clannies together and playing random teams is gaming bliss.

Joining a pub server in any multiplayer shooter and hoping for competent teammates = failure everytime. It's all about developing relationships with the good folks you come across. I've made a lot of good friends, and recruited a lot of them for our gaming clan, through L4D. That's the key to an enjoyable experience for multiplayer gaming.

Trying to play a game with people you don't know is nearly impossible in L4D.

The only time I've ever beaten a campaign on Expert was from joining a pub game, if I try with any of my friends we ALWAYS get destroyed. The players I played with were serious about expert though, and it was a great experience tbh.

It's a great blast to play with friends from IRL because their's funny shit to discuss at the next lunch, but unfortunately my friends have not been properly schooled in surviving a zombie apocalypse.

I agree on this, especially when you are talking over the mic with them, using skype or whatever. Its fun as hell.

And there wouldnt be any fun if they where schooled on how to survive a zombie apocalypse :p

Zoey - "Pilot's License.... REVOKED! DUN DUN DUN!"

Started the game with this.... and I remembered why I loved L4D. The writing in this game is pure gold.

I had a play through of this the other day, and it seems okay. my biggest problem was getting lost, but that was a direct result of rolling a tank and getting chased into the infamous alley in which Francis was born. You can really tell that this campaign is different, as it does 3 things. First, it shows off a bit of custom content. Secondly, it proves that they will be providing DLC in the future. Thirdly, and most importantly, it shows mappers what can be done with l4d. Things like the broken walls and custom crescendo/finale events will become a staple in l4d mapping, and it's important for valve to point these things out.

Er, what?

Just saying you shouldn't jump in a public server for any multiplayer shooter and expect everyone to be competent. BUT, you can befriend the decent folk and form a base of like-minded players to game with over time.

While absolute team work isn't something you'd expect from joining a random pub, you should be able to expect to atleast have some fun.

I can jump into a normal pub server in almost any game and still have fun. I can't do that with L4D.

A good read.
